Does gender identity alone make a human being a woman or a man? If a person claims they have a female gender identity, isn’t their transgender status irrelevant?

A few years back in ancient history, while Verge of Civil War talk was more in current vogue than today, I encountered one version or another of the same joke several times:
"I'm not worried about civil war: one side has a trillion rounds of ammo at home, while the other side can't decide which bathroom everyone should use."
If only it were that simple.
It looks to me more like the current DC-executive regime has been handed a war-sized smokescreen, to deploy for strategic and propaganda purposes, here in the US: witness a president who weeks ago was being pilloried and dismissed around the world as little more than a no-show figurehead being manipulated mercilessly by the fringe radicals of his own party.
Now he has utterly re-invented his own public persona, as some long overdue steel-spined Leader of the Free World, as he directs that 'free world' into a very cautious but imminently lucrative posture of (what do we call this? "Belligerent neutrality?")
As meanwhile, few may note nor long remember the quiet little moves he has been making on the US domestic scene, to continue on with the permanent crusade by the DC establishment to govern as a law unto itself over all the nation.
Unanimous votes in the Senate? Right.
Brand-new federal agencies and investigative powers being announced every other day? Huh.
The tranny craze is nothing more than one more tactic to expand federal powers by placing all sorts of bizarre and untenable requirements on every type of public institution imaginable, not the least of which are the endless outposts of federal power passed off as 'education', who receive grants and other types of funding and aid from the federal government. When they do not comply, DC is then in a position to exert more and more pressure on even privately-held institutions by creating such powerful precedents in the public sector for such absolutely fabricated political farces as the bottomlessly stupid wishful thinking, that one can assume the identity of the opposite sex for no more than deciding to, and then must be pandered to from then on.
These craven opportunists who climb the ladder all the way to prominence in any presidential administration, no less so those on post in this one, could not care less about the people of Ukraine any more than they do the rights of young men getting attention for easy victories by pretending to believe they are girls.
It's all about power, and the DC machine is in the power-brokering business. Expect it to uphold or even acknowledge your own civil liberties at your extreme peril. I know I never have, no matter what faction was currently in dominance.
