I do my own research. I rarely rely on what any cable news network says or reports. So much misinformation is being disseminated from cable TV nowadays. I am skeptical of just bout anything I read, see or hear. I often don’t know what to believe due to so many conflicting reports.
I get my news from various sources. I read a few newspapers online and I cross reference stories on other sites. I see if I can find articles on the very same subject from foreign news outlets like the BBC or Al Jazeera. This way, I feel more informed and I eventually understand why people might view the same event differently. I often see the bigger picture with this approach. I also read comments on certain news stories to get a feel for what average people might be thinking.
My method of collecting information is beneficial in my quest to stay informed and aware. I only wish more people had the time and ability to do similar types of research with each topic they find interesting. Digging deeper into current events might help sift through the madness of cable news, social media and news outlets, who clearly have ideological agendas.
Over the past 6 weeks, I’ve never seen such and avalanche of conflicting messages. It started with our president downplaying the sickness that accompanies COVID-19. Recently, there have been various publications reporting all kinds of confusing things about masks. At first, epidemiologists and infectious disease specialists discouraged mask wearing among the general population. A few weeks later, numbers of infections increased from coronavirus. Some doctors began to suggest that wearing a mask might keep you from touching your face and subsequently transmitting the coronavirus. As I researched further into what could be the truth with covering your face, I discovered articles that said how wearing masks may be good, or may be bad. The general lack of medical consensus has caused all kinds of controversy.
A few days ago in New York State, Governor Cuomo signed a new executive order directing people who are in public to wear a mask or face-covering where social distancing isn’t possible. Mr. Cuomo said, “How can you not wear a mask when you’re going to come close to a person?”
Who do you believe? What do you believe, and why? Where do you get your information from? What is the truth?
Maybe it’s all a matter of changing our minds when new information is presented to us. But is that really the case? Haven’t people studied pandemics before? Isn’t there a pattern with viruses even if they are new? Maybe not. I guess we’ll have to take in the information as it comes and make decisions with each passing day.
Something Interesting:
The Swine Flu Vaccination Fraud of 1976
CBS ” 60 MINUTES” documentary on the swine flu epidemic of 1976 in the U.S. It went on air only once and was never shown again. Watch this video documentary and listen to testimony of people who caught Gullian-Barre paralysis because of the swine flu vaccine. They sued the US government for damages. 500 cases of Gullian-Barre paralysis, including 25 deaths—not due to the swine flu itself, but as a direct result of the vaccine. At the time President Gerald Ford, on advice from the CDC, called for vaccination of the ENTIRE population of the United States. The difference now, and what is the REAL danger, we have no questioning media.
