Biden Administration's new ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ at DHS
The same people who told you Hunter Biden’s laptop was fake, proclaim only biologists know what a woman is, say abortion is healthcare, think kids belong to the state, encourage the use of preferred pronouns, say lockdowns worked, claimed vaccines prevented COVID19, and stated inflation wouldn’t happen, have assembled a Disinformation Governance Board.
Nina Jankowicz is President Joe Biden's pick to serve as executive director of the new Disinformation Governance Board. You may ask yourself, “What does a ‘board’ do?” Well, according to the Associated Press:
The Department of Homeland Security is stepping up an effort to counter disinformation coming from Russia as well as misleading information that human smugglers circulate to target migrants hoping to travel to the U.S.-Mexico border.
“The spread of disinformation can affect border security, Americans’ safety during disasters, and public trust in our democratic institutions,” the department said in a statement Wednesday.
A newly formed Disinformation Governance Board announced Wednesday will immediately begin focusing on misinformation aimed at migrants, a problem that has helped to fuel sudden surges at the U.S. southern border in recent years. Human smugglers often spread misinformation around border policies to drum up business.
Does the federal government need to appoint someone as the head of a panel to do this? Is it a new position in the government? How much do they get paid? Why is this needed? What else will this person and their board actually do? What other ‘disinformation’ are they in charge of countering? How is this a budgeted position funded by taxpayers? By what statutory authority is the Department of Homeland Security invested with the privilege of devoting one penny of government funds to hiring this person?
The DHS is a law enforcement entity responsible for upholding our laws, correct? Maybe they can start by indicting whoever gave this person this job because it appears this is a case of defrauding the Federal government and the American people.
The Biden Administration created this ‘board’ at the infamous security theater agency called the Department of Homeland Security. This expansion of government is troubling. We may now have a truth ministry in the same agency with the agency full of secret courts/warrants and Patriot Act mayhem.
Biden’s pick, Nina Jankowicz, has been a global fellow at the Wilson Center. She is an author whose research has focused on ‘disinformation’ and Russia and the treatment of women online. She is the author of How To Lose the Information War: Russia, Fake News, and the Future of Conflict and, most recently, How to Be a Woman Online: Surviving Abuse and Harassment and How to Fight Back., which was published this year.
For someone so invested in stopping ‘disinformation,’ Jankowicz was one of the supporters of the idea that the controversial laptop story that emerged in October, 2020 could be part of a disinformation campaign carried out by Russia. No evidence subsequently emerged to support that conclusion.
She recently responded to criticism of this tweet by saying, “For those who believe this tweet is а key to аll my views, it is simply а direct quote from both cаndidаtes during the finаl presidentiаl debаte.” “You cаn see I wаs live-tweeting thаt evening if you look аt my timeline.”
This self-proclaimed disinformation expert seems to also have issues with people she deems “free speech absolutists.”
Is this who you want to decide what is true?
Misinformation: things that aren’t true but aren’t deliberately untrue.
Disinformation: deliberately untrue things.
Malinformation: things that are true, but are bad for trust in the authorities.
The Department Of Homeland Security might need to change the name of the position to Director of Counter-Malinformation. I feel that’s the true intention of the people in charge of inventing these kinds of unnecessary jobs.
