A few times a year, my ex-wife and I take one of our kids overnight and spend one-on-one time. Last week, I had a movie night with my daughter. Since she’s older now, we can watch almost any kind of movie. She likes horror/suspense movies, so we had a triple header.
1) Hereditary
2) The Blair Witch Project
3) Carrie
The first movie was a recommendation from her friend. It was good until the very end. The second was one I wanted to show her because it was somewhat groundbreaking for the time. The third, I never saw. Yeah, I never saw the original Carrie.
I told her that The Blair Witch Project was real. I couldn’t give away the truth because it wouldn’t be so shocking. She was scared to DEATH! After it was done, I told her that it was all actors. It’s almost like telling the truth about Santa Claus. She still loved it the most out of the three films.
We ended the night with the last 25 minutes of the all-time greatest horror flick—The Exorcist. It’s still freaks me out. I had to watch some comedy to cleanse my mental palate after all of the demonic images roamed through my brain.
It was a fun night.
If you have recommendations for other classic horror flicks, let me know.
