Open Your Lobby
This happens to be the dumbest I deal I've seen since the last dumb idea earlier today
No!
Open theaters for these people? Why?
Why open up their lobby for protesters and potential rioters when people who make their living in theater can't work in them now? I feel, at this point, things like this have NOTHING to do with police brutality. These kind of people are trying to see just how far others will bend and cave to their demands.
A new twitter account with a little over 900 followers as of this writing, has gotten the attention of the New York Times!!!
New York Theaters Open Up Lobbies for Racial Justice Protesters The Public Theater and Atlantic Theater Company are among those welcoming demonstrators into their buildings.
Even Billboard has reported on it:
Sara Bareilles, Debra Messing & More Applaud New York Theaters Opening Their Doors for Protestors
Think it through. Here are their demands:
OPEN LOBBY DOORS: Open your space, provide a place of rest, and distribute free supplies to protesters as needed, including water, snacks and first aid.
A place of rest? Rest from what? They need time to rest from protesting? What are they protesting and why are they tired? Don’t they have homes to go to and rest? What, is it an athletic contest too? Distribute free supplies as needed? Who is paying for this free water, snacks and first aid?
PROVIDE SERVICES: Provide bathroom access as well as Wi-Fi and outlets for charging phones, while ensuring that everyone inside has the opportunity to maintain social distancing, and providing hand sanitizer for anyone entering the building.
Hmmmm…each theater owner is to give out their wifi password to everyone? Outlets? It’s clear these idiots have no clue what they’re talking about. There are few if any outlets in the lobby of these theaters. It is a lobby, not a coffee shop. Most of the theaters in NYC are almost 100 years old. They simply don’t have outlets in the lobby. They want free hand sanitizer too? Who is providing this again? Do they need restrooms, showers, towels, hair brushes, changing areas, day care, massage tables, MSNBC live feeds on TV screens, and a nice buffet, catered by fine dining establishments for all of the hungry activists too?
DO NOT PERMIT POLICE: Publicly announce you will not permit police inside the building for the safety of your protesters. This is your legal right, specifics vary by state. This is not a protest and police should not be able to enter without a permit or dispersal order unless it is their last resort and they give clear instruction and ample time to act.
Allow people free reign in a theater and not hold them accountable for any mayhem they might start? What is stopping protesters from spray painting the inside of the theater wall? Why not allow them to destroy the seating as well as the decades old art inside, simply because they can?
FURTHER SUPPORT THE WORK: Connect with jail support initiatives in your city. Send extra supplies to others on the ground in need. Donate to organizations and foundations that benefit the empowerment of black people.
They are trying to tell theater owners how to spend their money? How do they know these theater owners aren’t already doing that?
How about this idea; the owners of @OpenYourTheater must open the doors to their apartments for looters, rioters and anarchists. Let’s see how that works out.
This new twitter account has garnered national attention. Maybe I should invent an account and find a way to say something equally as ridiculous to get attention.
Maybe…@freeforall. Everything is yours for the taking, as long as you claim it first. It’s free…for all!
How about these ideas:
Get your running shoes on. When you hear the cannon blast from the middle of Times Square, everyone can run to your favorite theater and claim your prize. All theaters will be renamed after the first person to spray paint their name onto the theater doors.
After tagger number one completes the defacing of the property, and retains ownership of the venue by default, he/she/they are allowed to discard the capitalist rubbish from the former plays and musicals that currently exist in these buildings. The default owner can begin setting up their own productions for public consumption. All new shows must pay respect to the life and times of the most honorable George Floyd - you know, the man they neither know nor care about.
With each passing day, it will be a Black Lives Matter/AntiFa/Total Anarchy free for all. The new commander of the totalitarian gender neutral army of anti-capitalism super-spreaders can do what they like with the space. They can create their own shows. Every play must be about oppression, police brutality, racism, sexism, gender-ism, capital-ism and any other ‘ism” they desire.
Due to the fact their new venue is theirs for the taking, they can make it the communist haven they’ve always wanted. There can be safe spaces in the bathrooms so that people who are easily triggered can find solace. All money made will be in bitcoin and will be properly distributed amongst the general population through the e-commerce site that is collectively owned and operated.
I could go on and on about new ideas for the evil theaters that currently exist, but I’ll leave that up to the dictatorship of the proletariat to figure out.

These are great for NYC protestors because Covid restrictions mean no public bathrooms, and marchers can be out for hours. It isn't just theatres; bars, churches, and even some apartments are being offered as shelter. Volunteers do most, if not all of the staffing, and supplies are donated. Wifi doesn't cost much and running extension cords and power strips to the lobby is easy. No one is being forced to do this.
