The truth is - AEA has been the single biggest road block to our industry returning to “normal” after the pandemic. Their leadership is inept. The fact that they have a statement of “support” but will still continue to allow the production to open with karaoke tracks is a disservice, in the long run, to their own members. Are we to presume now that a Broadway show, without the geographic and capacity-related restrictions, could be made at Marie’s Crisis? I think your effort to frame it not only in what theater it is in, but what contracts it honors is unique and important. And what makes it worse is, these producers (and most of the actors) are veterans in their field - they know better. I’m sorry, but Lachanze doesn’t get a pass. Nor does Lea Salonga. I know both of them personally. And I’m embarrassed for them.
