Of late I am actually becoming emotionally exhausted with confronting the mass denial of the obvious:
The official sector in the United States of America is NOT on your side.
Everyone doing business with any form of government in America regards it as one thing, and one thing only:
LOW. HANGING. FRUIT.
Government employment, government benefits, government contracts, government grants....
Find me even one person who is lining their own pockets by any of these means who would look me in the eye and tell me their truest motive is to uphold the Constitution, or to serve and protect the people, or to preserve the republic.
Just listen to the rhetoric they use among themselves: cover your ass, shitstorm, plausible deniability, "we're just doing our jobs...." People who assert their rights to police and courts are the troublemakers, the assholes. The government view of the world is divided neatly into two distinct groups of people: those in their clique, and those who aren't. And even on their side of that Thin Blue Line, they don't even trust each other. They don't dare.
Mercenaries run this country's official functions, and it is long past time everyone not in government finally admit that to themselves, while you still can. These are dangerous, merciless, purely self-serving people who have long since sold their souls, and not even to the highest bidder, just the one that gave them the most reliable package with the least risk of ever having their deeds exposed.
I managed fourteen seconds of this, honest. That urgent music, that affected, theatrical tone... I get it, these are the last people you would want to trust in a crisis.
But the good news is, nobody would.
Get real already.
New York City, September 11, 2001. Where was the US Air Force? Did anyone in the higher echelons of power prove even the least bit effective in preventing that tragedy, when plenty of them knew what was going to happen and never lifted a finger?
Government in this country, at every level, has not the slightest bit of concern for public safety or the well-being of anyone but their own inner circles. How could anyone not know this by now?
Just like that numb, scripted response you got from your mayor the other day: the lesson here is that the purpose of government is for those associated with it to extract the maximum benefit for themselves from a machinery purely financed with stolen wealth right out of the people's pockets. All the rest is ad-copy, hypnotic cues and soothing platitudes no adult could possibly take at face value.
I keep thinking about that elderly lady in a village in Donetsk, who spent a month by herself in a basement hiding from the shelling. She'd know more about what to do when the worst happens than some paid Spandex-nazi on government payroll could ever guess at. That creature in the video would be one of the ones nobody else in the shelter could trust, because she would be the informer looking to save her own neck by collaborating with the enemy.
