I met NYC Mayor Eric Adams And I Had A Few Things To Say

Last Sunday, I planned on getting out of New York City with my girlfriend and decided to drive up to Ulster County in New York State. On my way out of town, I decided to take a detour to see my son working at his first place of employment on the upper west side of Manhattan. I knew my daughter was in town because she had to get her hair done in the city on her weekend off from Culinary school, but I didn't think I'd have time to run into her.
As I pulled up to the ice cream store where my son was busy working, I noticed a young lady chatting with him. I walked into the store and saw my daughter hanging out with her little brother. I showed my kids love like I always do when I surprise them. After a little conversation, my daughter, who had planned on taking the train back up to school, asked if she could hitch a ride with my girlfriend and me so she could be dropped off at school. It was a little out of the way, but any more time I can spend with my kids at this point is a blessing.
We had to make a stop at her mother’s house in Hamilton Heights so that she could gather her belongings. This is the neighborhood where a bodega employee successfully defended himself by killing a person threatening him and where a 14-year-old was stabbed to death on the subway recently.
While driving in that area, my girlfriend noticed what looked to be the current mayor of New York City, Eric Adams. He was in a white shirt, talking to a few people. I pulled over, walked up to him, and decided to voice a specific concern of mine.
I know that social media arguments are useless, so I do my part and contact my representatives in the city council, state government, and on the federal level instead. Reaching the NYC mayor’s office is not that easy for some strange reason.
Well, if you know me, I’m not one to give up easily, nor am I one to not take advantage of an opportunity to speak directly to those in positions of power.
I did exactly that today.
I approached Mr. Adams, shook his hand, and said,
